After facing a war wolf, the lured traveler chosen by the ring (that will randomly be Millard, Sofia, Gilderoy, Fiore, Lynette, Theo, Viola or Scarecrow) falls to the ground. He calls them using the Flamebringer's ring. Although the prologue of a Traveler Story can be played without you acquiring the character, you can only see the continuation of their stories once you obtain said traveler. The latter focuses on specific tales of the playable characters. It is possible to play four types of stories with the themes of "Wealth," "Power," and "Fame," and "All" of them are densely crafted.īesides the main story, there are also Side Stories and Traveler Stories. There are eight main stories segmented in two arcs, "Master" and "Bestower".
The Chosen One (a random traveler), bearer of one of the 8 Divine Rings, is given the task of seizing the remaining rings, which are in the hands of people who use the Rings' power for their selfish ends. The game takes place in Orsterra, before the events of Octopath Traveler.
